Experimental and numerical investigation of the origin of surface roughness in laser powder bed fused overhang regions

چکیده
Surface roughness of laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) printed overhang regions is a major contributor to deteriorated shape accuracy/surface quality. This study investigates the mechanisms behind evolution surface (Ra) in regions. The morphology result combination border track contour, adhesion, warp deformation, and dross formation, which strongly related angle (?). When 0° ? ? 15°, does not affect Ra significantly since only small area melt pool boundaries contacts resulting slight adhesion. 15° < 50°, adhesion enhanced by sinking increased contact between boundary bed. > large waviness clusters, severe deformation formation increase sharply.

Femtosecond laser absorption in fused silica: Numerical and experimental investigation
Single pulse transmissivity and reflectivity of fused silica irradiated by tightly focused 90 fs laser pulses at a center wavelength of 800 nm are numerically and experimentally investigated to study the role of nonlinear photoionization and avalanche ionization processes in free electron generation. The laser beam inside fused silica is modeled with a 2+1 -dimensional propagation equation whic...

Experimental Investigation of the Surface Roughness in Grinding of BK7 Optical Glass in Brittle Mode
Surface roughness is a significant parameter which determines the efficiency of optical components. Surface damages induced by grinding strongly influence the mechanical strength and optical quality of optical glasses. It is meaningful to rapid evaluate the surface roughness through the measurement of different grinding parameters. In this study, a cup diamond wheel (D64) is used in grinding pr...
